Bath Iron Works has partnered with Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) and Maine Quality Centers to offer workforce training programs. These programs are free to qualified applicants and provide training targeting specific kinds of jobs. The courses are located on the SMCC Midcoast Campus in Brunswick and graduates receive an interview with our shipyard. Welding and manufacturing technician courses are currently being offered.
- 18 years old or older
- High School Diploma, GED or HiSet
- U.S Citizenship – required
- Preference given to those with previous trade experience or training
- Testing may be required

SMCC Manufacturing Technician Course
Those who take this course will learn technical skills such as blueprint reading, hand and power tool operation, oxy cutting, tack welding, drilling, fastening, technical math, lifting and material handling, operation of air tools, and more. Earn while you learn with a $500 weekly incentive.
