BIW Travel Policy

To better protect our workforce and the community, BIW is taking precautions to ensure the safety of all employees. We must work together to keep each other safe and reduce the impact of COVID-19.

If you develop symptoms of COVID-19, which include fever, cough, or shortness of breath, please do not come to work. Remain at home, call your doctor and then call the BIW Nurse Triage Line at 207-442-4296 for guidance.

Business Travel

Until further notice, all business travel requires your divisional VP and VP of Human Resources approval. Requests should be made via your divisional VP.

Personal Travel

There are currently no restrictions on travel to Vermont and New Hampshire.

Note: For those working from Planning Yard homeports or sites outside of Maine, please speak with your supervisor.

  • If you are traveling to a destination other than VT or NH, please call the Nurse Triage Line, 442-4296 before your trip to report your travel plans and discuss steps to return to work.
  • You must use your suite of benefits to cover this time away from work regardless of which program you choose. The Benefits and Labor Relations departments will work with employees on a case by case basis should they have exhausted their suite of benefits.
  • If a person resides with you AND they have or develop symptoms consistent with COVID-19, you will need to complete a 10-day quarantine and 4 days of self-monitoring.
