On-Site COVID-19 Testing Sites

BIW employees can access free rapid COVID-19 testing on site through Mid Coast Hospital. The testing is optional and is open to employees enrolled in the Occupational Health Monitoring Program (OHMP) as well as other employees.

Test results are available in 15 minutes.

Testing is available on all shifts and at the following locations:

  • Main Yard: Fit for Life office in Office Annex Building.
  • CROF: Health coach office
  • Structural Fabrication/Consolidated Warehouse: Fairpoint monitoring room
  • Ace and Bisson warehouses: Building B
  • Trades Learning Center/Training Academy: Heath coach office at Trades Learning Center at Leavitt Drive
  • Technology Center: Health coach office

Times and dates will be based on need and may be adjusted in the future based on employee interest.

Employees who are enrolled in the OHMP will be given preference for scheduling these tests but BIW and Mid Coast will make testing available to all employees.

External COVID-19 Testing Sites

Some testing sites are open to anyone while others are limited to their own patients. Some sites require people to pay for the test up front and submit the bill to their insurance company. People interested in a test should call ahead and ask questions about access, hours and costs.

  • Mid Coast Medical COVID Testing: 207-373-6699, Parkview Hospital Campus, 329 Maine Street, Brunswick

8am-3:40pm, 7 days a week. PCR testing only, no rapid testing. Mid Coast Hospital offers testing for individuals with a provider’s order. This includes all patients of Mid Coast Hospital, Mid Coast Medical Group, and MaineHealth, as well as patients of other Maine-based providers. Contact your doctor for an appointment. If the doctor recommends testing, the order will be faxed and the COVID testing center will contact the employee to schedule an appointment. Learn more here.

As a state-sponsored Swab and Send site, Mid Coast Hospital also offers testing for people with or without symptoms who do not have an order from a local provider, or who reside outside of Maine. You must first fill out a form online. More information can be found here.

  • CVS Pharmacy COVID Testing – Available to all Maine residents.
    • Augusta: 24 Stone Street
    • Biddeford: 384 Elm Street
    • Portland: 111 Auburn Street
    • South Portland: 51 Market St

Preregister via online form and they will provide an appointment time. Test is handed out at drive-thru. You will be given a testing kit and instructed on self-swabbing procedure while being observed. The swab will be sent to an independent 3rd party lab: 2-3 day turn around.   • Maine Urgent Care: Topsham Location – 105 Topsham Fair Mall Rd, 207-798-6333; Lewiston Location – 685 Sabattus St, 207-795-5050

Open 8am-8pm, 7 days a week. No order required but do need to have a full visit with the health care provider. Does not require being a patient of CMMC or require a PCP. Visit is billed to insurance. Learn more here.

  • Walk-in Covid Testing Center: 287 Main Street, Lewiston

No phone number on site. Open Monday-Tuesday, Thursday-Friday, 11am-3pm. No doctor visit and does not require insurance. No appointment needed. FREE service: just a swab and it is sent to the Maine State Lab.

  • Northern Light Health Triage Line: 844-489-1822

Phone line is open from 8am-5pm, testing site hours vary by location. There are multiple drive-up testing locations, depending on where employee lives, including Waterville, Bangor, Blue Hill, Ellsworth, Portland and Dover-Foxcroft. You can take a quick survey online to schedule an appointment and receive a follow-up call where you will be preregistered. Scheduling and preregistration can also be done over the phone.
