On July 27, 2024, Bath Iron Works observed a powerful milestone as the future USS Patrick Gallagher (DDG 127) was christened on our drydock. The ship is named for Cpl. Patrick Gallagher, an Irish citizen who received the Navy Cross for bravery while a U.S. Marine fighting in Vietnam. This exceptional event was marked by the attendance of Patrick Gallagher’s sisters and the ship’s sponsors, Teresa Gallagher Keegan, Rosemarie Gallagher and Pauline Gallagher, who broke their bottles of sparkling wine on the ship. They were accompanied in the bottle break by their brother Peter Gallagher.
