Louis H. Wilson Jr. (DDG 126) Start of Fabrication Ceremony

General Dynamics Bath Iron Works celebrated the start of fabrication of the shipyard’s first Flight III destroyer, Louis H. Wilson Jr. (DDG 126) on March 3, 2020. Louis H. Wilson Jr. (DDG 126) is named for a U.S. Marine Corps captain who earned the Medal of Honor for “indomitable leadership, daring combat tactics, and valor in the face of overwhelming odds,” at the Battle of Guam in 1944. Planner Dave Harper, a 47-year BIW employee, initiated the first cut of steel plate.
