General Dynamics Bath Iron Works Makes Respirator Donation to MaineHealth

BATH, Maine – General Dynamics Bath Iron Works on Tuesday donated 3,200 medical grade N95 respirators to MaineHealth, the state’s largest integrated health care system. The masks are being distributed to hospitals and other medical facilities in Maine based on need.

“We appreciate the support that companies like Bath Iron Works are providing us,” said MaineHealth spokesman John Porter. “Donations of personal protective equipment, like these N95 masks, are incredibly helpful. And this kind of demonstration of community support sends a wonderful message to our care team.”

This donation of medical equipment to our health care system, which had been in the works for several days, is in addition to an earlier donation of protective equipment which was sent to Bellevue Hospital in New York City last week. That donation was arranged by the shipyard’s parent company, General Dynamics, which continues to work with the White House to identify areas of greatest need where equipment can be directed. Over the past week, the company donated more than 21,000 pieces of personal protective equipment to sites in New York City and Chicago including N95 masks, Tyvek and Kimberly Clark suits, boot covers and face masks.

“We commend health care workers in Maine and around the country for their tremendous dedication during this difficult time,” said Bath Iron Works President Dirk Lesko. General Dynamics
