Apprentice Stories

Scott Woodard

Marine Electrician Apprentice

My desired outcome is to receive my Journeyman’s license as a Marine Electrician and a degree from Maine Maritime Academy in Ship Production. This, combined with my work experience, will greatly further my career in any field I choose to go.

As someone who previously had to choose between work and a college education, this program is an ideal fit. It not only allows me to provide for my family, but provides me with a higher education – something I always knew I needed. The results will be even better than a traditional degree with thousands of hours of relevant work experience paired with the degree. I look forward to all of the opportunities I will be presented with in this program as well as after I finish. The Apprentice School at Bath Iron Works has significantly changed my outlook on life!
