Since the first ship, Cottage City, was built in 1890, Bath Iron Works has built a variety of ships for different purposes, from Navy battleships to yachts. Click on the arrows in the slider below to view some of the ships we built during our early beginnings.

  • MACHIAS (HULL NO. 2)

    Gunboat for the United States Navy (Delivered 1893)

  • ELEANOR (HULL NO. 9)

    243 ft. steam yacht (Delivered 1894)

  • USS VICKSBURG (PG-11)

    Barquentine-rigged steam gunboat (Delivered 1897)

  • USS GEORGIA (BB-15)

    First Class Battleship for the United States Navy (Delivered 1906)

  • USS CHESTER (CS-1)

    Scout Cruiser for the United States Navy (Commissioned 1908)

  • USS FLUSSER, DD-20

    First BIW-built destroyer (Delivered 1909)

  • USS PAULDING (DD-22)

    BIW built five of these 700-ton ships (Delivered 1910)

  • USS ALLEN (DD-66)

    Survived Pearl Harbor and served until 1946 (Delivered 1917)

  • USS WICKES (DD-75)

    Lead ship of a class of 111 ships, of which many served until 1945 (Delivered 1918)

  • RANGER

    J Class Sloop for Harold S. Vanderbilt. Winner of the America's Cup (Delivered 1937)
