Today, on the Marine Corps birthday, we at BIW are celebrating Veterans Day for all of our veterans employed by our company. We have almost 1,000 veterans employed here, people who have served in all the branches of the Armed Forces. Men and women who have answered the call to service in defense of our great country – like my fellow veterans and I did – continue to serve, working here at BIW making the Arleigh Burke destroyers that keep us safe. Our mission is critical to our nation, our Navy and our families.
It is also important that we remember those who have paid the ultimate price and sacrifice in defense of our way of life. They gave their life to defend the U.S. Constitution and what it stands for. To the Gold Star Families, my heart goes out to you along with a huge debt of gratitude for your loss and sacrifice.
We have been fortunate to enjoy a way of life that others admire and seek to achieve. Yet, some of our adversaries would challenge our way of life if weren’t for our volunteers who bravely stand in their way by serving our country in our Armed Forces.
THANK YOU to all of you who have served and are serving in the branches of our Armed Forces!
