In the 1937 America’s Cup, Bath-built J-class racing yacht Ranger defeated the British challenger Endeavour II 4-0, winning by over 17 and 18 minutes in the first two races. Pictured is a fragment of lead from Ranger, which was chipped off when finishing the keel after pouring lead into the mold. Artifact courtesy of Maine Maritime Museum.
